Dianne Caton of Caton Pottery Waihi
Dianne Caton of Caton Pottery Waihi first touched clay when she was 15 years old, and since then it has been a lifelong passion for over 60 years. Her pieces are primarily slab built and carved, or sgraffito enhanced when leatherhard. No two pieces are the same — she cannot leave a piece plain, and has an uncontrollable urge to alter the form in some way. Pieces often have found driftwood added, and designs are never sketched ahead of time; they just flow from somewhere within.
